Family Life
In 1906, Arthur Vandenberg married Elizabeth Watson. She passed away in 1917. They had three children together. In 1918, Vandenberg married Hazel Whittaker. They stayed married until he died in 1951. They did not have any children.
Political Career
Vandenberg was a United States Senator for Michigan. He served as a senator from 1928 until his death in 1951. He was also the President pro tempore of the United States Senate from 1947 to 1949. This role means he was the second-highest-ranking member of the Senate.
Vandenberg was a member of the Republican Party. He ran for President of the United States in 1948, but he did not win his party's nomination.
Later Life
Arthur Vandenberg passed away in Grand Rapids, Michigan, at the age of 67. He died from cancer.
