Arthur Nory Oyakawa Mariano (born September 18, 1993) is a talented Brazilian artistic gymnast. He is a key member of the Brazilian national gymnastics team. Arthur has competed in three Olympic Games: 2016, 2020, and 2024. He won a bronze medal in the floor exercise at the 2016 Olympics. He also became a World Champion on the horizontal bar in 2019 and earned a bronze medal on the horizontal bar at the 2022 World Championships.

Early Life and Gymnastics Journey

Arthur Mariano was born in 1993 in Campinas, Brazil. His father is Brazilian, and his mother is Japanese Brazilian. As a child, Arthur first practiced judo, following his father's interest.

However, his path changed when he watched a gymnastics class. He was so interested that he decided to try it himself. After his parents divorced, Arthur moved to São Paulo with his mother. There, he joined a gymnastics team at a new club.

When he was eleven years old, Arthur joined Esporte Clube Pinheiros, a well-known sports club. His hard work paid off, and when he was fourteen, he won the Brazilian Child Gymnastics Championship. This was a big step in his gymnastics career.

Arthur Mariano's Modeling Career

Besides being a successful professional gymnast, Arthur Mariano is also an international model. He has signed contracts with modeling agencies around the world.

In 2019, Arthur became the face of a clothing brand called BENCH. This brand is based in the Philippines. He was featured in their men's wear campaigns in both Brazil and across Latin America.

Arthur Mariano has won many important medals throughout his career. He has competed in some of the biggest gymnastics events in the world.

Olympic Games Medals

At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Arthur won a bronze medal in the floor exercise. This was a huge achievement for him and for Brazil.

World Championships Medals

Arthur has also had great success at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.

  • In 2019 in Stuttgart, he won a gold medal on the horizontal bar. This made him a World Champion!
  • In 2022 in Liverpool, he earned a bronze medal on the horizontal bar again.

Pan American Games Medals

The Pan American Games are another important competition where Arthur has shined.

  • In 2019 in Lima, he won gold with the Brazilian team and another gold on the horizontal bar in 2023 in Santiago.
  • He also won silver medals in the team event in 2015, and in the all-around and horizontal bar in 2019. In 2023, he added two more silver medals in floor exercise and vault.
  • He earned a bronze medal with the team in 2023.

Arthur has also won medals at other major events:

  • At the Pan American Gymnastics Championships, he won gold with the team in 2021. He also has a silver and a bronze from 2022.
  • In the South American Games, he won gold in the team event and floor exercise in 2022. He also has a silver from 2014.
  • At the South American Gymnastics Championships, he has won multiple gold medals in team and floor exercise events. He also has silver and bronze medals from various years.
