Artie is a small, quiet place in Raleigh County, West Virginia, United States. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own official city government like a town or city would.
Artie is located about 5.5 miles (8.9 km) west-northwest of a place called Pax.

History of Artie
Artie once had its own post office. It first opened its doors on October 5, 1903. The post office served the community for many years before it finally closed on February 1, 1997.
Roads and Rivers
The main road that goes through Artie is called County Route 1. It is also known as Clear Fork Road. This road is important for getting around the community.
The Clear Fork River
The Clear Fork is a river that flows through Artie. It is part of the beginning waters of the larger Big Coal River. County Route 1 crosses over the Clear Fork river two times in Artie.
Honoring Heroes
Both of the bridges that cross the Clear Fork river in Artie have been named after brave members of the United States Armed Services. One bridge honors US Army Private First Class Shelby Dean Stover. The other bridge is named after United States Air Force Senior Master Sergeant Billie Edward Hodge.
A Special Museum
In 2014, something exciting happened in Artie. A well-known West Virginia sports player and coach named Tex Williams opened a museum. This museum is full of interesting sports items and memories. It is located inside the building that used to be the old Post Office.
