Arvidsjaur is a town in northern Sweden. It is located in Norrbotten County, which is part of the Lapland province. About 4,600 people lived here in 2010.
Arvidsjaur is an important place for the European car industry. During the cold winter months, big car companies come here. They test their new cars in the snowy conditions.
The town is also a popular spot for tourists. Visitors can enjoy many fun winter activities. These include snowmobile tours and dog sled rides. You can also go trekking, skiing, and fishing.

History of Arvidsjaur
The name Arvidsjaur comes from the Ume Sámi language. The original word was árviesjávrrie.
Árvies means "generous" or "one who gives a lot." Jávrrie means "lake." So, the name refers to a lake that was rich in fish.
The Arvidsjaur Church was built in 1607. It was built in a Sámi village. Old records from 1606 and 1607 show the name as "Arfwids Jerfwi by" or "Arfwids Järfwi."

Arvidsjaur has its own sports clubs. One well-known club is IFK Arvidsjaur. They offer different sports for people to enjoy.
Getting Around Arvidsjaur
Arvidsjaur has good ways to travel. It has roads and a railway. There is also an airport.
The Arvidsjaur Airport has daily flights to Stockholm. During certain seasons, you can also fly to places in Germany.
The railway line, called Inlandsbanan, runs tourist trains. These trains only operate in the summer. Buses also connect Arvidsjaur to other towns. You can take a bus to places like Gällivare, Östersund, and Luleå.
