Watercourse Asbestos Creek

Asbestos Creek Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in Snohomish County, Washington. It flows down Asbestos Creek, which is a small stream that eventually joins Clear Creek. This amazing waterfall is found near the town of Darrington.

The falls are quite tall, dropping about 950 feet (290 meters) in total. They are also known for having 5 different drops, making them a "tiered" waterfall.

Seeing Asbestos Creek Falls

It can be a bit tricky to see all of Asbestos Creek Falls. Even though the waterfall is very tall, only the bottom part, about 500 feet (150 meters), can be seen from the base. This is because of the way the gorge (a narrow valley) is shaped.

Getting to the falls has become quite difficult. The road that leads there, Clear Creek Road, has had many washouts. This means parts of the road have been damaged or washed away, making it hard to drive or walk along.

You might be able to catch a partial glimpse of the falls from Clear Creek Road where it crosses Asbestos Creek. To see the upper parts of the falls, you would likely need to view them from the other side of the valley.

Don't Get Confused!

It's easy to mix up Asbestos Creek Falls with another waterfall called Asbestos Falls. But remember, Asbestos Creek Falls is on Asbestos Creek, while Asbestos Falls is on Clear Creek itself. They are two different, but equally interesting, waterfalls in the same area!
