Ashland is a small town located in Benton County, Mississippi, in the United States. It is the main town, also known as the county seat, for Benton County. In 2020, about 551 people lived there. This was a small decrease from 569 people in 2010. Ashland became an official town on March 8, 1871. It is governed by a Mayor and Aldermen.

Ashland was founded in 1871. It became the main town for Benton County, which was created just one year before. The Benton County Courthouse, a very important building in the town's center, was built in 1873. Many of the first people to live in Ashland moved from Salem. Salem was an older town to the west that was destroyed during the Civil War.
Ashland's Location and Climate
Ashland is located about 18 miles east of Holly Springs. The town is mainly found along Mississippi Highway 370, just east of where it crosses Mississippi Highway 5. The border of Tennessee is about 14 miles to the north.
