How She Started Triathlon

When Ashleigh was in school, she played many sports. These included touch football, netball, athletics, and cross country running.

In 2004, a family friend suggested she try triathlon. At first, she wanted to improve her running. But she soon found that she loved the swimming and cycling parts too!

Ashleigh quickly became very good. She won silver medals at the Junior World Championships. This happened in Hamburg in 2007 and Vancouver in 2008. Then, she won gold in Budapest in 2010.

In 2015, Ashleigh finished 12th in the WTS. That same year, she won the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon. This is a special race that starts from Alcatraz island.

She also came in second place at WTS races in Yokohama in 2015 and 2016. She was also second in Abu Dhabi in 2016. By May 2016, she was ranked third in the world. This helped her get a spot on the Australian Olympic team.
