Ashton last played for the team Valmiera in the Latvian Basketball League. Before turning professional, he played college basketball at Sam Houston State University.
Ashton Mitchell's Basketball Journey
Ashton Mitchell started his professional basketball career after finishing college. In 2010, he was not chosen by any team in the NBA draft. This means he was "undrafted." However, this did not stop him from playing professionally.
Starting His Professional Career
For the 2010–11 season, Ashton Mitchell signed with a team called BK Liepājas Lauvas. This team plays in the Latvian Basketball League, which is a professional league in Latvia.
In November 2011, he joined the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. This team is part of the NBA Development League, often called the G-League today. It's a league where players can develop their skills and try to make it to the NBA. However, in January 2012, he was "waived" by the Vipers. This means the team released him from his contract.
Playing in Different Countries
Ashton continued his career by playing for teams in various countries. In November 2013, he signed with BC Kolín in the Czech Republic. They play in the National Basketball League.
He left the team in March 2014. After that, he signed with Metalac Valjevo in Serbia for the rest of that season.
On February 17, 2015, Ashton Mitchell moved to Hungary. He signed with Alba Fehérvár for the rest of their season.
Later, on December 10, 2016, Ashton signed with another Latvian team, Valmiera. This was the last team he played for professionally.
