Askersund Municipality (Askersunds kommun) is a special area in central Sweden. It is part of Örebro County. The main town, or "seat," where the local government is, is called Askersund.
This municipality was formed in 1971. It was created by joining the old City of Askersund with two smaller country areas called Hammar and Lerbäck.
