Astro Bot is a super fun video game series. These games are mostly platform games, where you jump and explore. Some also use augmented reality, which mixes game graphics with the real world.
The Astro Bot games are made by Team Asobi, a part of Sony Interactive Entertainment. The first game, The Playroom, came out in 2013. It was a special game for the launch of the PlayStation 4.

The Playroom (2013)
The Playroom was a collection of mini-games. It showed off how cool the PlayStation Camera and DualShock 4 controller were. This game came free with every PlayStation 4 console. You needed the PlayStation Camera to play it.
The Playroom VR (2016)
The Playroom VR was a virtual reality game released in 2016. It was designed to show off the features of PlayStation VR. This game also came free with the VR headset. It included six different mini-games for players to enjoy.
Astro Bot Rescue Mission (2018)
Rescue Mission stars Captain Astro and his robot friends. These robots first appeared in The Playroom. In this game, you help Captain Astro save his lost crew. They are scattered across many different worlds.
Astro's Playroom (2020)
Just like The Playroom for PlayStation 4, Astro's Playroom comes pre-installed on every PlayStation 5. It's a sequel to Rescue Mission. It also works as a free tech demo to show off the amazing features of the new DualSense controller.
Astro's Playroom was announced in June 2020. It was released in November 2020. This was the last game released by Japan Studio before they changed in 2021. Team Asobi then became its own independent studio within PlayStation Studios.
Astro Bot (2024)
The newest game, simply called Astro Bot, was announced in May 2024. It was released for the PlayStation 5 on September 6, 2024. This was the first Astro game made entirely by Team Asobi. It was released to celebrate PlayStation's 30th anniversary. Astro Bot has won many awards, including Game of the Year.
