Astro Bot is a series of exciting video games where you control a cute robot named Astro. These games are all about exploring, jumping, and solving puzzles in amazing worlds. They were created by a team called Team Asobi, which was originally part of Japan Studio, and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, the company that makes PlayStation consoles. The series is a spin-off of The Playroom games and started with The Playroom in 2013. Many of its games have won numerous awards for being super fun!
Exploring Astro Bot's Worlds
Imagine playing inside your PlayStation! That's exactly where the Astro Bot games take place. In games made for the PlayStation 4, Astro's adventures happened inside the player's DualShock 4 controller. For games on the PlayStation 5, Astro explores the inside of the PlayStation 5 console itself. It's like a secret world hidden within your gaming system!
How to Play Astro Bot Games
In the early games, like The Playroom and The Playroom VR, you played different mini-games. These mini-games showed off the cool features of your DualShock 4 controller, PlayStation Camera, and even PlayStation VR!
Later games, starting with Astro Bot Rescue Mission, are "platformers." This means you guide Astro Bot through levels by jumping, climbing, and running. Your main goal is to rescue his robot friends who are lost across many different worlds. Astro has some awesome moves, like jumping high, hovering in the air, punching enemies, and doing a spin attack.
Astro's Playroom is a special game that came pre-installed with the PlayStation 5. It's a platformer, just like Rescue Mission, but it also shows off the amazing new features of the PlayStation 5's DualSense controller. As you play, you find special "VIP Bots" and cool items that look like old PlayStation consoles. You can collect these items and display them in a special museum called PlayStation Labo. In the newest game, Astro Bot, there are even more "VIP Bots" to find and rescue!

The Playroom (2013)
The Playroom was a collection of mini-games that came pre-installed on every PlayStation 4 console. It was designed to show players how to use the PlayStation Camera and the DualShock 4 controller in fun, new ways. You needed the PlayStation Camera accessory to play the game. A studio called Firesprite helped create the cool visuals for the game. There was also free extra content available to download.
The Playroom VR (2016)
The Playroom VR was a special virtual reality game released on October 13, 2016. It was made for PlayStation VR, which is a virtual reality headset for the PlayStation 4. This game had six different mini-games that you could play with friends, showing off what virtual reality could do. It came free with the VR headset.

Astro's Playroom (2020)
Just like The Playroom for the PlayStation 4, Astro's Playroom came pre-installed on every PlayStation 5. It served as a fun sequel to Rescue Mission and also as a fantastic way to show off the new features of the DualSense controller.
Astro's Playroom was first announced on June 11, 2020, at the PlayStation 5 reveal event. It was released on November 12, 2020. This was the final game released by Japan Studio before they reorganized in April 2021, when Team Asobi officially became an independent studio within Sony's PlayStation Studios.
