Atammik (which used to be spelled Atangmik) is a small community, called a settlement, in central-western Greenland. It is part of the Qeqqata municipality, which is like a local government area.
Atammik is located right on the coast, next to the Davis Strait. This is a part of the Atlantic Ocean that separates Greenland from Canada. In 2020, about 196 people lived there. It is also the most southern settlement in its municipality.
For many years, there was a Royal Greenland factory in Atammik. This factory was important because it helped process fish caught by local fishers. Fish processing means preparing fish for sale, like cleaning or freezing them. However, this factory closed down in July 2010.
Population
The number of people living in Atammik has stayed mostly the same over the past 20 years. However, in the last few years, the population has become a little smaller.
