Playing for Clubs
Atsushi Natori was born in Saitama, Japan, on November 12, 1961. After finishing high school, he joined a football club called Mitsubishi Motors in 1980. This club is now known as Urawa Reds.
Natori quickly became an important player for his team. In his early years, his club had great success. They won the Emperor's Cup in 1980, the JSL Cup in 1981, and the Japan Soccer League championship in 1982. He was a regular player right from his first season.
Later in the 1980s, the club faced some tough times. They even played in Division 2 for a while. Despite these challenges, Natori stayed with the team. He continued to play for them until the end of the 1994 season, when he decided to retire.
Playing for Japan
Even when he was still in high school, Atsushi Natori was recognized for his talent. In August 1979, he was chosen to be part of the Japan Under-20 national team. This team played in a big tournament called the 1979 World Youth Championship. Although he was part of the squad, he did not get to play in any matches during that tournament.
Later, Natori made his debut for the main Japan national football team. This happened on October 26, 1988, in a game against South Korea. In 1989, he also played in the qualification matches for the 1990 FIFA World Cup. Overall, he played 6 games for the Japan national team until 1989.
