Atsuyoshi Furuta (古田 篤良, Furuta Atsuyoshi, born October 27, 1952) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a defender. Furuta was also a member of the Japan national team.

Club Career

Atsuyoshi Furuta was born in Hiroshima, Japan, on October 27, 1952. After finishing his studies at Waseda University, he joined a local football club in 1975. This club was first known as Toyo Industries, and later changed its name to Mazda. In 1978, his team finished second in the Emperor's Cup, which is a major football tournament in Japan. Furuta played for this club until he retired from professional football in 1984.

National Team Career

Atsuyoshi Furuta made his first appearance for the Japan national team on August 13, 1971. At that time, he was still a student at Waseda University. His debut game was against Iceland. When he played this match, he was 18 years and 29 days old. This made him the youngest player ever to play for Japan's national team at that time. His record was later broken in 1998 by Daisuke Ichikawa. Furuta also represented Japan in the 1974 and 1978 Asian Games. He played a total of 32 games for Japan until 1978.
