Attica Locke was born in 1974 in Houston, Texas. She is an American author who writes fiction books. She also works as a writer and producer for TV shows and movies.

Attica Locke's Career as a Writer

Attica Locke finished her studies at Northwestern University School of Communication in 1995. Later, in 1999, she joined the Sundance Institute's Feature Filmmakers Lab. There, she learned how to write screenplays and direct films.

Writing for TV and Movies

Locke has written scripts for many big film studios. These include Paramount, Warner Bros., and Disney. She also wrote for HBO and DreamWorks.

She was a writer and producer for the TV drama Empire on Fox. More recently, she worked on Netflix's When They See Us. She also helped create the Hulu show Little Fires Everywhere.

In 2021, it was announced that Locke would be an executive producer and showrunner for a Netflix series. This show, called From Scratch, is based on a book written by her sister, Tembi Locke. The show started on Netflix in October 2022.

In 2023, Attica Locke was chosen as an International Writer for the Royal Society of Literature. This is a special honor for writers.

Attica Locke's Personal Life

Attica Locke was born in Houston, Texas. Her parents were involved in the civil rights movement in the early 1970s. They named her after a historical event that happened in New York in 1971.

Today, she lives in Los Angeles, California. She lives there with her husband and daughter. Her older sister, Tembi Locke, is an actress.

Attica Locke is a member of the Writers Guild of America, West. This is a group for writers in the entertainment industry. She is also an honorary member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.
