How Atwood Became a Village

Atwood officially became a village on December 14, 1883. A group of 30 local residents asked the county judge to make it a village. They said about 300 people lived in the area at that time.

On January 9, 1884, people voted on whether to become a village. The vote was 66 for and 42 against, so Atwood officially became a village!
