Douglas County is a county in the state of Illinois, USA. In 2020, about 19,740 people lived here. The main town and county seat is Tuscola.

History
Douglas County was created in 1859. It was formed from parts of Coles County. The county is named after Stephen A. Douglas. He was an important politician who became a U.S. Senator in 1858. This happened after his famous debates with Abraham Lincoln.
Geography
Douglas County covers about 417 square miles (1,080 square kilometers). Most of this area is land. Only a small part, about 0.6 square miles (1.6 square kilometers), is water.
