This commune is found in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department. This area is in the south-east of France. It is part of the larger Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. The town is about 650 meters (2,130 feet) above sea level. Its lowest point is 480 meters, and its highest is 780 meters.
Nature and Surroundings
The Largue river is an important natural feature here. It forms the eastern border of the commune. You can see a bridge crossing the Largue river in the area. The landscape also includes low hills. These hills are especially noticeable in the southern part of the commune.
Life in the Commune
Even though it's a small place, Aubenas-les-Alpes has important buildings. The Town Hall, where local decisions are made, used to be an old presbytery. A presbytery is a house for a priest. Inside the Town Hall, you can find a special fireplace. It is decorated with a style called gypserie. This is a type of plasterwork.
The town also has a beautiful church. It is called the Church of the Assumption. Inside, you can see an altar and a painting of The Assumption. There is also a Chapel of the Virgin. Some old decorations, like a frieze, show a pilgrimage. This is a journey to a holy place. There is also modern stained glass in the church.
