Auburn, North Carolina facts for kids
Auburn is a small place in Wake County, North Carolina, USA. It's not a city or town with its own government, but a "community" located southeast of Raleigh. You can find it about halfway between the towns of Garner and Clayton. Auburn is mainly found along Garner Road, which used to be part of a bigger highway called US 70. The exact edges of Auburn aren't clearly marked, but it's generally around Garner Road, between Auburn Church Road and Guy Road.

What is the History of Auburn?
Auburn started thanks to the North Carolina Railroad. Long ago, the railroad built a train station, called a "depot," right here. This depot was placed about halfway between the towns of Garner and Clayton. Because of the train station, a small community began to grow around it. Over time, parts of this community were added to the nearby town of Garner.

Historic Homes and Nature
- The Wayland E. Poole House is a special building in Auburn. It's so important that it's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means it's recognized for its historical value.
- Near Auburn, you can also find the Clemmons Educational State Forest. This is a great place to learn about nature and forests.
Tall Towers and Churches
- Three very tall broadcast towers are located near Auburn. These towers send out TV and radio signals for the Triangle area. They are the WRAL HDTV Tower, the WTVD Tower, and the WNCN Tower.
- Two large churches are also important landmarks. These are Mt. Moriah Church on Garner Road and Springfield Baptist Church on Auburn Knightdale Road.
Growth and Development
- Like many areas in Wake County, Auburn has seen a lot of new buildings and homes recently. A big new neighborhood called Auburn Village has been built along Auburn-Knightdale Road.
- There's also a small industrial park nearby on Greenfield Parkway. This area has businesses and factories.
