Early Life and Education
Aurelio Mosquera was born in Quito, the capital city of Ecuador, on August 2, 1883. He was very interested in medicine from a young age. He began his medical studies in Quito. To continue his education and learn even more, he later traveled to Paris, France.
Becoming President
In 1938, Ecuador was going through some political changes. The previous president, Manuel María Borrero, left office. After this, Aurelio Mosquera Narváez was chosen to become the new President of Ecuador. He officially took office in December 1938.
Key Actions as President
During his time as president, Aurelio Mosquera made some big decisions. He had the support of the country's army. One of his first actions was to dissolve the National Assembly. The National Assembly was like a parliament or a group of lawmakers for the country. Dissolving it meant ending its work.
He also brought back the Constitution of 1906. A constitution is a set of important rules and laws for how a country is governed. The 1906 Constitution was known for being "secular." This means it separated the government from religious control.
