Austin is a city located in Scott County, within the U.S. state of Indiana. It's part of Jennings Township. In 2000, Austin was a town with about 4,272 people. It officially became a city on January 1, 2008. By the 2020 census, its population was 4,064.

History of Austin
Austin was first planned out in 1853. It was named after Austin, Texas, a famous city in another state. A post office has been open in Austin since 1854, helping people send and receive mail for a very long time.
