History of Auxier
Auxier began around the year 1900. It started as a "coal town." This means the community was built mainly to support coal mining. The town was named after the local Auxier family.
Geography of Auxier
Auxier is located in the northern part of Floyd County. The Levisa Fork river borders it to the south, east, and northeast. Johnson County is to the north. Prestonsburg, the main town of Floyd County, is about 6 miles (10 km) south.
