History of Auxier
Auxier began around the year 1900. It started as a "coal town." This means the community was built mainly to support coal mining. The town was named after the local Auxier family.
Geography of Auxier
Auxier is located in the northern part of Floyd County. The Levisa Fork river borders it to the south, east, and northeast. Johnson County is to the north. Prestonsburg, the main town of Floyd County, is about 6 miles (10 km) south.

In 2010, the population of Auxier was 669 people. Most of the residents were white. A small number of residents were black. By 2020, the population had grown slightly to 715 people.
