Geography of Ava

Ava is found in the northwest area of Jackson County. A road called Illinois Route 4 goes through the city. It is known as Knauer Street in Ava.

This road goes about 15 miles (24 km) northwest to a town called Steele­ville. It also goes about 10 miles (16 km) east to where it ends at Illinois Route 13. Murphysboro, which is the main town of the county, is about 14 miles (23 km) southeast of Ava.
