Steeleville is a small village located in Randolph County, Illinois, in the United States. In 2010, about 2,083 people lived there. It's a friendly place with a rich history and a strong community spirit.

Geography of Steeleville
Steeleville is a village in Illinois. It covers about 1.5 square miles (3.9 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a very small part being water. The village is right next to Mary's River. This river flows directly into the mighty Mississippi River.
History of Steeleville Village
Steeleville has had a few different names over the years. It was once called Alma, Georgetown, and Steele's Mill. The area was first settled in 1807 by a person named John Steele. Later, in 1810, his son George Steele settled in what became known as Georgetown.
In 1812, a fort was built to protect the settlers from Native American attacks. A mill called Steele's Mill was built in 1825. The Post Office opened in 1827 under the name Steele's Mill. In 1832, land lots were sold in the town by several important people. The Baptist church was started in 1838.
An important old road, the Lusk's Ferry Road, used to run through Steeleville. This road connected Fort Kaskaskia to Lusk's Ferry on the Ohio River. It helped people travel and trade in the early 1800s.
Village Services and Leadership
Steeleville has its own police and fire departments. They are located in the Village Hall building. As of 2021, the Mayor of Steeleville is Andy Gerlach. The Police Chief is James Zeidler, and the Fire Chief is Richard Reitz. These leaders help keep the village safe and running smoothly.

Steeleville High School Warriors
Steeleville High School is located on South Sparta Street. Their school mascot is the Warrior. As of 2023, Jennifer Haertling was the Principal and assistant superintendent. The school offers many sports for students.

- Girls' Sports: Basketball, softball, bowling, golf, cheerleading, volleyball, track, cross-country, and trap shooting.

Steeleville Grade School Braves
Steeleville Grade School is also on South Sparta Street. Their mascot is the Brave. As of 2020, Dr. Stephanie Mulholland was the Principal and District Superintendent. This school teaches students from pre-kindergarten up to 8th grade.
