A Look Back in Time
The B'nai Jacob Synagogue was built a long time ago, in 1906. Imagine, that's over 100 years old! It's a special building made of brick, and it has one main floor. The roof in the front has a pointed shape, like a triangle.
If you look at the front of the building, you'll see cool designs made from bricks. There are windows shaped like tall, pointed arches, and also a round window. Right at the very top of the front roof, there's a Star of David. This is a very important symbol for Jewish people.
This synagogue is extra special because it's the oldest building in Dauphin County that was built specifically to be a synagogue. Because of its history and unique design, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. This means it's recognized as an important historical site in the United States.
