Baby Rani Maurya was born on August 15, 1956. She is an important Indian politician. Currently, she serves as a minister in the Government of Uttar Pradesh. She has held this position since March 2022. Before that, she was the seventh governor of Uttarakhand from August 26, 2018, until September 2021. She resigned from her role as governor two years before her term was supposed to end.

Early Life and Education
Baby Rani Maurya was born in 1956. She belongs to the Jatav community, also known as Ravidasia. She studied hard and earned two university degrees. She has a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree.
Political Journey
Baby Rani Maurya started her political career in the early 1990s. She joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Her husband, Pradeep Kumar Maurya, was a bank officer. He is now on the advisory board of the Punjab National Bank.
Becoming Mayor of Agra
In 1995, Baby Rani Maurya ran for mayor of Agra. She won the election by a large number of votes. This made her the first woman to become the mayor of Agra. She served as mayor until the year 2000.
Working for Social Causes
In 1997, Maurya was given a role in the BJP's wing for scheduled castes (SC). Ram Nath Kovind, who later became the President of India, was the head of this group. Her job was to help the BJP connect better with people from scheduled castes in Uttar Pradesh.
In 2001, she became a member of the Uttar Pradesh social welfare board. This board works to improve the well-being of people in the state. Because of her efforts to help dalit women, she was chosen to be a member of the National Commission for Women in 2002. She worked on this commission until 2005.
State and National Roles
In 2007, the BJP nominated Maurya to run for a seat in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. She ran for the Etmadpur seat but lost by a small margin. From 2013 to 2015, she took on various responsibilities for the BJP at the state level. In July 2018, she became a member of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights. This commission works to protect children's rights.
Governor of Uttarakhand
On August 21, 2018, the Indian government appointed Baby Rani Maurya as the seventh governor of Uttarakhand. She officially took office on August 26 at the Raj Bhavan in Uttarakhand. She was the second woman to become governor of Uttarakhand. Margaret Alva was the first, appointed in 2009.
She resigned from her governor position in September 2021. A few days later, she was appointed National Vice President of the BJP. This happened just before important assembly elections in her home state of Uttar Pradesh.
Current Role as Minister
In the 2022 election, Baby Rani Maurya was elected to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. She represented the Agra Rural constituency. In March 2022, she was appointed as a minister in the second Yogi Adityanath government. She continues to serve in this role today.
