Where Does Back Creek Start and End?
Back Creek begins in a pond located about 0.5 miles (0.8 km) northeast of a place called Carr, in Orange County, North Carolina. From there, it flows towards the southwest.
Its journey ends when it joins the Haw River. This meeting point is about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) southeast of the town of Graham, North Carolina.
The Back Creek Watershed
A watershed is like a big bowl where all the rain and water drain into one main stream or river. The Back Creek watershed covers a large area of about 81.21 square miles (210.3 km2).
This area gets a good amount of rain, about 46.3 inches (117.6 cm) each year. A big part of the watershed, about 44%, is covered by forests. These forests help keep the water clean and healthy.
