Bailey Biondi-Odo's Rugby League Journey
Starting His NRL Career
Bailey Biondi-Odo made his first appearance in the NRL in 2021. This is called his debut. He played for the Canterbury Bulldogs in round 16 of the 2021 NRL season. His first game was against the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles.
First Try in the NRL
Later in the 2021 NRL season, Bailey scored his first try. A try is like a touchdown in American football. He scored it in round 18 against the South Sydney Rabbitohs. Even though he scored, his team, the Bulldogs, lost that game.
Playing for the Bulldogs
In the 2021 season, Bailey played nine games for the Canterbury Bulldogs. The team had a tough year. They finished last in the competition. This meant they received the Wooden Spoon award.
Challenges and Recovery
Bailey played eight games for the Bulldogs in the 2022 NRL season. The team improved slightly, finishing 12th. However, during a game in the NSW Cup Elimination Final, Bailey got a serious injury. He tore his ACL. This injury needed surgery to fix it.
After his injury, Bailey was not part of the top 30 players for the Bulldogs in 2023. The club's general manager, Phil Gould, said Bailey would return in 2024. Another player, Reece Hoffman, took his spot.
