Bailey Biondi-Odo's Rugby League Journey
Starting His Professional Career
Bailey Biondi-Odo made his big debut in the NRL in 2021. This was during Round 16 of the 2021 NRL season. He played for the Canterbury Bulldogs against the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles. His first game was a tough one, with the Bulldogs losing 66–0.
Just two rounds later, in Round 18 of the 2021 NRL season, Bailey scored his first ever try in the NRL. This happened during a game where the Canterbury team played against the South Sydney Rabbitohs. Even though his team lost 32–24, scoring his first try was a big moment for him.
Playing for the Bulldogs
In his first year, the 2021 NRL season, Bailey played in nine games for the Canterbury Bulldogs. That year, the team finished last in the competition. This meant they received the Wooden Spoon, which is an unofficial award given to the team that finishes last.
Bailey continued to play for the Bulldogs in the 2022 NRL season. He played in eight games that year. The team did better, finishing 12th on the ladder.
Facing Challenges and Recovery
Later in 2022, Bailey faced a big challenge. During a game in the NSW Cup Elimination Final, he got a serious injury. He tore his ACL, which is a major ligament in the knee. This type of injury needs a lot of time to heal. It required surgery called an ACL reconstruction.
After his injury, Bailey worked hard to recover. He was not on the main team list for 2023. However, the club hoped he would return to play in 2024.
