Ballao (which is called Ballau in the Sardinian language) is a small town in Italy. It is known as a comune, which is like a municipality or local government area. Ballao is located in the Province of South Sardinia on the beautiful island of Sardinia. It's about 45 kilometers (28 miles) northeast of a bigger city called Cagliari. The town is part of a traditional area known as Gerrei.
About Ballao
Ballao is a quiet place with a long history. It's home to about 900 people. The town is led by its mayor, Severino Cubeddu.
A Look at History
Ballao was founded a long time ago, around the year 1300. Before that, people lived in an older village on a hill called Nuraxi. They decided to move closer to the Flumendosa river. This move helped them grow more crops and improve their farming.
