Bancroft is a small town in Putnam County, West Virginia, United States. It is located right by the Kanawha River. In 2020, about 389 people lived there. Bancroft is also part of a larger area called the Huntington–Ashland metropolitan area.
History of Bancroft
Bancroft got its name from George Bancroft. He was a person who operated a coal mine. The town officially became a town in 1952.
