The twin-barred tree snake (also called the banded flying snake) is a cool snake found in Southeast Asia. Its scientific name is Chrysopelea pelias.
It's famous for its amazing ability to glide through the air! Like other snakes in its group (called Chrysopelea), it flattens its body using its ribs to catch the air. You'll usually find it in wet forests. From the top of a tree, it can glide as far as 100 meters – that's like a whole football field! This snake lays eggs, which means it's an oviparous animal.
When it's ready to glide, the twin-barred tree snake jumps upwards. This is a bit different from how other animals without legs move. Scientists think this special jump might have helped snakes learn how to glide over time.
The twin-barred tree snake shares its home with another snake called the paradise tree snake (Chrysopelea paradisi). They both live in places like Malaysia, Singapore, Borneo, and Indonesia. However, you won't see the twin-barred tree snake as often as the paradise tree snake.
