Bani Jamra (pronounced Bah-nee Jam-ra, Arabic: بني جمرة) is a small village located in the northwest part of Bahrain, an island country in the Middle East. It's situated to the west of Manama, which is Bahrain's capital city, and to the east of the coastal village called Budaiya. The village is part of Bahrain's Northern Governorate, which is like a region or district.
For a long time, before oil was discovered in Bahrain, most people in Bani Jamra were farmers. They especially grew lots of date palm trees, which produce delicious dates. Bani Jamra is also well-known for its traditional fabric weaving. This special craft, where beautiful cloths are made by hand, is becoming less common today.
Village History
Early Life in Bani Jamra
In a book from 1908 called the Gazetteer of the Persian Gulf, a writer named J. G. Lorimer described Bani Jamra. He wrote that the village had about 50 huts. These homes were occupied by people known as the Baharna.
Most of the villagers at that time were farmers or weavers. Lorimer also estimated that there were around 1,500 date palm trees growing in the village. This shows how important farming, especially date palms, was to the people of Bani Jamra long ago.

- Mansoor Al-Jamri: He is the editor-in-chief of a newspaper called Al-Wasat. An editor-in-chief is the main person in charge of a newspaper, deciding what stories are published.
