Barbara Farris (born September 10, 1976) is a former professional basketball player. She played in the WNBA for many years. After her playing career, she became a basketball coach.

Barbara Farris: A Basketball Star
Barbara Farris was born in Harvey, Louisiana. She grew up loving basketball and became a talented player. Her journey in basketball took her from high school to college and then to the professional leagues.
High School and College Years
Barbara went to St. Martin's Episcopal School and graduated in 1994. She was so good at basketball that she was later added to the St. Martin's Alumni Athletic Hall of Fame.
After high school, Barbara attended Tulane University. She studied sociology and played for the Tulane Green Wave women's basketball team. During her time there, she was an amazing player. In her junior year, she was named to the All-Star first team for Conference USA. She also achieved 34 "double-doubles," which means she had double-digit numbers in two different statistical categories (like points and rebounds) in 34 games.
Her success at Tulane led to her being inducted into the Tulane Athletics Hall of Fame in 2004. Later, in 2017, she was also honored by being inducted into the Greater New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame.
Professional Playing Career
Barbara Farris played professional basketball for over a decade. She started her career with the New England Blizzard in the American Basketball League.
Her WNBA career began in 2000 when she joined the Detroit Shock. She played for the Shock until 2005. One of her biggest achievements was winning a WNBA championship with the Detroit Shock in 2003.
After her time with the Shock, Barbara played for the New York Liberty from 2006 to 2007. In 2006, she was a starter for the team. She then played for the Phoenix Mercury in 2008 before returning to the Detroit Shock for her final season in 2009.
Besides playing in the WNBA, Barbara also played professionally in other countries. She played basketball in France, Spain, and Korea, showing her skills on an international level.
Coaching Career
After retiring as a player, Barbara Farris transitioned into coaching. She has served as an assistant coach for several teams.
