Early Life and Education

Barbara Mallory Caraway was born in Clarksville, Texas. She grew up in Amarillo, Texas, as one of eight children. She has lived in the Dallas area for over two decades. She studied telecommunications and theater at Texas Southern University. There, she earned a bachelor's degree.

Political Career

Before joining the state legislature, Barbara Mallory Caraway was a member of the Dallas City Council. She represented the sixth district from 1993 to 2001. In 2006, she was elected to the Texas House of Representatives. She was re-elected for a second term in 2008. She represented District 110 in the Texas House.
