Plot Summary

Barbie's Troubles Begin

The story starts with Barbie working on a movie. She is filming a version of "The Princess and the Pea". Barbie doesn't agree with the director's strange ideas, and because of this, she gets fired! Soon after, Barbie gets a call from Ken, who seems to break up with her. To escape all her problems, Barbie decides to go on a trip to Paris. She plans to visit her aunt Millicent, who is a famous fashion designer.

Ken's Journey and a Big Secret

Meanwhile, Barbie's friends, Teresa and Grace, go to talk to Ken. They find out that the breakup wasn't real! It was a trick by Barbie's rival, Raquelle. She had recorded Ken's voice while he was practicing lines. Ken quickly decides to rush to Paris to fix things with Barbie.

Aunt Millicent's Problem

In Paris, Barbie learns some bad news. Another fashion designer named Jacqueline tells her that Aunt Millicent's business is closing down. Barbie meets her aunt and her assistant, Alice. Millicent explains that her fashion house has received bad reviews. She has even sold the building to a restaurant called "Hotdogeteria".

Discovering the Flairies

Alice takes Barbie to the attic. She tells Barbie about magical creatures called "Flairies" who supposedly live in the fashion house. Barbie and Alice place one of Alice's original designs into a magic wardrobe. They say a special chant and soon, three magical creatures appear! They introduce themselves as the Flairies: Shine, Shimmer, and Glimmer. The Flairies are amazed by Alice's design. They use their magic to add beautiful sparkles to it.

A Plan to Save the Fashion House

The fashion house is where the Flairies get their power. So, Barbie and Alice decide to put on a fashion show. They will feature new designs by Alice to raise money. Their goal is to save the building from being sold.

Jacqueline's Sneaky Plan

Jacqueline soon finds out about the Flairies. She kidnaps them and demands that they add sparkles to her own designs. The Flairies warn Jacqueline that their magic might not work well on her uninspiring clothes. But Jacqueline ignores them. She plans to have her own fashion show on the same night as Millicent's.

The Pets to the Rescue

Even though the Flairies are gone, Millicent feels inspired by Alice's designs. She helps work on the clothes for the fashion show. Later that night, Barbie's poodle, Sequin, and Millicent's dog and cat, Jacques and Jilliana, find the Flairies. They follow a trail of sparkles to Jacqueline's place. The three pets sneak in and rescue the Flairies! The next day, Barbie, Alice, and Millicent wake up to a wonderful surprise. All their new outfits have sparkles, and the fashion show is set up perfectly.

The Big Fashion Show

That night, Jacqueline presents her fashion show. But the Flairies' magic goes wrong! The clothes start to fall apart on the runway. The audience is disgusted and leaves. They all go across the street to Millicent's show. Barbie models the new designs in a spectacular fashion show. For the grand finale, Glimmer uses her magic to change Barbie's dress. This shows off Glimmer's own talent as a designer.

Happy Endings

Soon after, Ken arrives. He had faced many delays on his trip. He tells Barbie he loves her, and the Flairies change his clothes into a new suit. An audience member places a huge order for clothes from the new line. The money is enough for Millicent to buy back her building from the Hotdogeteria owner. Jacqueline, who watched the show, feels bad and says sorry for what she did. Millicent accepts her apology and even agrees to work with her someday. Liliana Roxelle, a top fashion critic in Paris, praises their amazing show. She invites them to a party. As they leave, a studio representative asks Barbie to direct a new film.
