Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Barnamentanarheiðursløn Tórshavnar býráðs is a special award from the Tórshavn City Council in the Faroe Islands. It's like a big thank you to people who create amazing things for children. This could be a writer, an artist, a musician, or even a whole orchestra!

The award celebrates their artistic work that helps Faroese children learn, grow, and have fun. It used to be called the "Children's Book Prize" (Barnabókaheiðursløn Tórshavnar býráðs). But in 2010, the rules changed. The word "book" (bók) was changed to "culture" (mentan). This meant the prize could go to more people than just writers. Now, anyone who does great cultural work for Faroese children can win it.
