History of Barry Docks Station
Barry Docks Railway Station first opened on December 20, 1888. It was built by a company called the Barry Railway Company. This company was created after a special law was passed on August 14, 1884. The law allowed them to build the important Barry Docks. These docks were very important for shipping coal from Wales.
The Barry Railway Company also used to run special boats called Paddle Steamers. These boats would travel from Barry Pier, which was a bit further along the railway line. They went across the Bristol Channel to different places. However, the company later sold these boat services to P & A Campbell, a company from Bristol.
