Barry Ward is an actor from Ireland. He started acting when he was a child. His first roles were in TV shows like Family (1994) and Plotlands (1997). He also appeared in the movie Sunburn (1999).

Since then, Barry has been in many films. Some of these include Jimmy's Hall (2014), Blood Cells (2014), Extra Ordinary (2019), and Dating Amber (2020). He won an IFTA Award for his role in Dating Amber.

Barry Ward grew up in a place called Blanchardstown. This is a suburb located in the northwest of Dublin, Ireland. He went to school at St Declan's College in Cabra. After school, he went to NUI Maynooth (now called Maynooth University). There, he studied English and Philosophy.

Acting Career Highlights

Barry Ward started his TV acting career at 14 years old. He played John Paul Spencer in the 1994 miniseries Family. The next year, he acted on stage for the first time in a play called Buddleia. He returned to TV in 1997 in the show Plotlands. His first movie role was in Soft Sand, Blue Sea in 1998. In 1999, he starred with Cillian Murphy in the movie Sunburn.

In 2014, Barry played the main character, James Gralton, in the film Jimmy's Hall. This movie was shown at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. He also played Adam in the drama film Blood Cells. He appeared in Shooting for Socrates and then in the crime thriller Pursuit in 2015.

In 2016, Barry was in the historical drama Rebellion. He also had a role in the crime drama The Fall. He played Ian Paisley Jr in the film The Journey. The next year, he starred in the movie Maze. He also played Sawyer in the TV series Britannia.
