History of Bayaney
The history of Bayaney is connected to the history of Puerto Rico itself. After the Spanish–American War in 1898, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened as part of a peace agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898.
Early Population Records
After this change, Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States. In 1899, the United States government took a count of all the people living in Puerto Rico. This count, called a census, found that 1,394 people lived in Bayaney barrio at that time. Over the years, the population has grown, showing how the community has developed.
