Bear Run is a small, beautiful river in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It's about 5 miles (8 kilometers) long. This river is famous because the amazing house called Fallingwater, designed by the architect Frank Lloyd Wright, was built right over it! Bear Run flows into the Youghiogheny River, which is a larger river.

Where is Bear Run?
Bear Run is located in the Appalachian Mountains, a large mountain range in eastern North America. It's also part of the area around Pittsburgh, a big city in Pennsylvania.
Fallingwater and Bear Run
The world-famous house Fallingwater sits directly on top of Bear Run. This house was designed by a very famous architect named Frank Lloyd Wright. He built the house to blend in with nature, using the waterfall of Bear Run as a key part of its design.
Protecting Bear Run
Bear Run is a special place. It's inside the Bear Run Nature Reserve, which is looked after by an organization called the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy. This group works to protect natural areas. Bear Run is also officially recognized as a "Pennsylvania Scenic River." This means it's a river with outstanding natural beauty that is protected.
The nearby town of Ohiopyle is a popular spot for tourists. Many visitors who come to see Fallingwater also explore Ohiopyle, which is just a few miles away.
The Journey of Bear Run
Bear Run starts its journey about 3 miles (5 kilometers) northeast of a place called Kaufmann, Pennsylvania. From there, it flows southwest and then west. Finally, it joins the Youghiogheny River about 0.25 miles (0.4 kilometers) west of Kaufmann.
The Bear Run Area
The area around Bear Run is mostly covered by forests, about 89% of it! This large forested area is very important. It provides a home for three types of plants that are considered special and need protection. The entire area that drains into Bear Run is about 6.47 square miles (16.7 square kilometers). It receives a good amount of rain each year, about 48.1 inches (122 cm).
