Beatriz Peschard facts for kids

Beatriz Peschard Mijares is a talented architect from Mexico. She started her own architecture company, Bernardi Peschard Arquitectura, in 2000. Her company mainly designs homes and office buildings.

Many of her buildings, including the AA315 House, blend modern design with the nature around them. Beatriz Peschard is also on the editorial board for Architectural Digest México, a well-known design magazine.

Becoming an Architect

Beatriz Peschard was born in Mexico City, Mexico. She traveled a lot when she was a child. She says her journey to becoming an architect began when she was just eight years old. At that young age, she designed a swimming pool for the empty lot next to her family's house!

Peschard studied architecture in Mexico City at Universidad Anáhuac México. She learned from many important Mexican architects from the 20th century. Some of her teachers included Mario Pani, José Luis Calderón Cabrera, Héctor Bracho, and Sara Topelson.

Working with Family

While studying at Universidad Anáhuac México, Beatriz Peschard met Alejandro Bernardi. He later became her husband. Alejandro Bernardi helped Peschard start Bernardi + Peschard Arquitectura in 2000.

Beatriz Peschard has shared that working with her husband brings "heart" into her designs. She also mentioned that mixing her family life with her work makes her projects aim for balance. She tries to create buildings that are strong, simple, and will look good for a long time. This comes from her own experience balancing being a mother, having a family, and doing her job.

Designing Buildings

Since 1991, Peschard has designed many different types of buildings in Mexico. These include private homes, apartment buildings, and office spaces. She believes that Mexico City is a special place where architects can try out new and exciting ideas.

In 2017, Peschard said it's important to "Try to invent new things." She believes architects should not just copy old designs or ideas from other countries. Instead, she encourages them to "search our history and combine what we find with technological and technical advances." This way, they can create something truly unique and new.

Her interior designs often focus on art. Her buildings use a calm color palette, mostly gray tones. They also mix these colors with natural wood. This helps create a feeling of peace and balance in the spaces she designs.
