The Trio's Journey
The Beaux Arts Trio first played for the public on July 13, 1955. This happened at the Berkshire Music Festival. Today, this festival is known as the Tanglewood Music Center.
The trio performed together for many years. Their last concert in America was at Tanglewood on August 21, 2008. Their very last concert ever was in Lucerne, Switzerland, on September 6, 2008.
Who Were the Members?
When the Beaux Arts Trio first started, its members were:
- Piano: Menahem Pressler
- Violin: Daniel Guilet
- Cello: Bernard Greenhouse
The pianist, Menahem Pressler, stayed with the trio for its entire existence. This means he was the only pianist the group ever had!
However, the violin and cello players changed over the years.

After Daniel Guilet, other violinists joined the group. These included:
- Isidore Cohen (starting in 1968)
- Ida Kavafian (starting in 1992)
- Yung Uck Kim (starting in 1998)
- Daniel Hope (starting in 2002)
Cello Players
Bernard Greenhouse played the cello for the trio until 1987. After he left, the cellists were:
