Behrouz Afagh is an important person at the BBC World Service. He is in charge of the Asia & Pacific Region. This means he helps manage many news and media services for a large part of the world. He was born and grew up in Iran. Later, he studied at universities in Iran and Britain. He has lived in Britain since 1978.

Behrouz Afagh's Work at BBC

Behrouz Afagh is responsible for many of the BBC's news and media services. These services are broadcast in many different languages. Some of these languages include Azeri, Bengali, Burmese, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Kyrgyz, Nepali, Pashto, Persian, Sinhala, Tamil, Urdu, and Uzbek.

He also played a key role in starting the BBC Persian television service. This TV channel was launched in 2008 for people in Iran.

Joining the BBC

Mr. Afagh began working at the BBC World Service in 1983. He first worked as a producer. Then, he became an editor for the Persian Service. He also worked as an editor for the Vietnamese Service.

In 1994, he helped create the BBC Central Asian Service. This was a new service for that region. He became the Editor of the Eurasia Region in 1999. From March 2003, he was the Head of the Eurasia Region. In April 2006, he became the Head of the Asia Pacific Region.
