Bejuma is about 667 meters (2,188 feet) above sea level. The area around Bejuma is part of the Cordillera La Costa Montane Forests. This region is known for its tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests. These forests are a type of dense, green woodland found in warm, wet climates.
Bejuma's Past: A Brief History
The town of Bejuma started in 1843. It was founded by the owners of a large farm called "Fundo Bejuma" hacienda.
On December 25, 1999, Cubana de Aviación Flight 310, a Yakovlev Yak-42 plane, had an accident near Bejuma. The plane was flying from Havana, Cuba to Simón Bolívar International Airport in Venezuela.
