Beloved Promise, whose birth name is Brigetta LaShea Barrett, was born on December 24, 1990. She is a talented former high jumper from the United States. Her biggest achievements include winning a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She also earned a gold medal at the World Championships in Moscow. Beloved Promise first retired from the sport in 2016 but later returned to compete in 2017.

Starting Her High Jump Journey

Brigetta Barrett began her high jump career in high school. In 2009, she won the Texas Class 5A State Championship. This was a big win for a young athlete.

In 2011, Brigetta continued to shine. She won the National Championships. She also won the World University Games in Shenzhen, China. There, she jumped 1.96 meters, which was her best jump at that time. She also took part in the World Championships in Daegu. She made it to the final round and finished 10th with a jump of 1.93 meters.

Olympic and World Championship Success (2012-2013)

In January 2012, Brigetta jumped 1.97 meters indoors. This was at the Fayetteville Invitational. She then qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics by finishing second at the US Olympic trials.

At the Olympic Games in London, she jumped even higher. Brigetta achieved a new personal best of 2.03 meters. This amazing jump earned her a silver medal.

In 2013, Brigetta kept winning. She won the NCAA Indoor Championships. Her winning jump was 1.95 meters. She also won the NCAA Outdoor Championships that year.

She set a new world lead and personal best of 2.04 meters. This happened when she won the US Championships. At the World Championships in Moscow, she won a gold medal. Her winning jump was 2.00 meters. Brigetta was also a finalist for the 2013 Bowerman award. This award is given to the best college track and field athlete.

Dealing with Injuries and a Break from the Sport

Brigetta Barrett is from Wappingers Falls, New York. On June 6, 2014, she jumped 6 feet, 4.75 inches. This was at the Rice University Track Stadium. She then placed third in the high jump at the 2014 US Outdoor Championships. This event was held in Sacramento, California.

Brigetta faced some injuries around this time. Because of her injuries, she decided not to jump. She missed the World Championships in Beijing in August 2015. She returned to high jump in January 2016. She cleared 1.83 meters in that competition.

At the age of 25, she decided to retire from the sport. She wanted to focus on her own business. However, in April 2017, she changed her mind. She decided to compete again. She took part in the Drake Relays in Iowa.
