As of the census of 2000, there were 962 people, 373 households, and 280 families residing in the town. The population density was 78.2 people per square mile (30.2/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 95.22% White, 3.85% African American, 0.10% Asian, 0.21% from other races, and 0.62% from two or more races.
