Benjamin Ebenezer Obomanu (born October 30, 1983) is a former American football player. He played as a wide receiver for teams like the Seattle Seahawks and the New York Jets. He was chosen by the Seahawks in the 2006 NFL draft after playing college football for the Auburn Tigers.

Growing Up and College Years
Benjamin Obomanu grew up in Selma, Alabama. He went to Selma High School, where he was a star in both football and basketball. He was also a very good student, graduating as the best student in his class (a valedictorian).
After high school, Benjamin went to Auburn University. He played football for the Auburn Tigers from 2002 to 2005. He was a member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity while at Auburn. Later in his life, he decided to go to law school.
Playing in the NFL
Benjamin Obomanu was picked by the Seattle Seahawks in the seventh round of the 2006 NFL draft. This meant he was one of the last players chosen that year, but it was still a big achievement! He spent his first year, 2006, practicing with the team.
Time with the Seattle Seahawks
In 2007, Benjamin officially joined the Seahawks' main team. He scored his very first NFL touchdown on October 14, 2007, during a game against the New Orleans Saints. It was a 17-yard catch from quarterback Matt Hasselbeck.
In 2008, Benjamin got hurt during a preseason game, breaking his collarbone. This meant he couldn't play for the rest of that season.
He came back strong in 2010. By the end of that season, he became one of the top two wide receivers for the Seahawks. He had a great year, catching 30 passes for 494 yards and scoring 4 touchdowns! After the 2010 season, he signed a new three-year contract with the Seahawks. The Seahawks released him in March 2013.
Playing for the New York Jets
After leaving the Seahawks, Benjamin Obomanu signed with the New York Jets in May 2013. He was released by the Jets in August, but then signed with them again in September. However, he was released again in October 2013. This was his last team in the NFL.
Life After Football: Law School
After his football career, Benjamin Obomanu decided to go back to school. In 2015, he started attending law school at The University of Alabama School of Law. While he was there, he was very involved in student life. He became the president of the Black Law Students Association and also helped students with honor code issues.
