Ben Sirmans (born October 17, 1970) is an American football coach. He used to play as a running back himself. Today, he is the running backs coach for the Green Bay Packers in the National Football League (NFL). Ben grew up in East Orange, New Jersey, and went to Immaculate Conception High School.

Ben Sirmans: A College Football Star

Ben Sirmans was a key player for the Black Bears college team. He was their starting running back from 1990 to 1993. During his final year, he ran for over 1,000 yards. This earned him special honors, including all-conference and All-New England awards. He studied physical education, health, and recreation at college.

Ben Sirmans' Coaching Journey

Ben Sirmans has had a long and successful career in coaching football. He started coaching at the high school level before moving to college teams and then the NFL.

Coaching College Teams

After finishing his own playing career, Sirmans began coaching.

  • He first worked at Barringer High School in Newark, New Jersey. He was an assistant head coach there from 1993 to 1995. He also coached the offense and special teams.
  • In 1996, he returned to his old college, Maine. For four years, he coached the running backs and helped recruit new players.
  • From 2000 to 2004, Sirmans coached running backs for the Kent State team.
  • In 2005, he moved to Michigan State as the running backs coach. The next year, he also became the special teams coordinator.
  • From 2007 to 2011, he coached running backs at Boston College. While there, he helped recruit a famous player named Luke Kuechly.
  • He was almost going to coach for Rutgers in 2012. However, he got an exciting chance to coach in the NFL instead.

Coaching in the NFL

In 2012, Ben Sirmans joined the St. Louis Rams as their running backs coach. He stayed with the Rams until the end of the 2015 season. When the team moved to Los Angeles, Sirmans decided to move on.

On February 17, 2016, the Green Bay Packers hired him. He became their running backs coach. Even when the Packers changed their main coaching staff in 2019, Ben Sirmans was kept on the team by head coach Matt LaFleur. He continues to coach the running backs for the Packers today.
