A Look at Benahadux History
Benahadux has a very long history! The earliest part of the town, called El Chuche, was started way back in the Bronze Age. This was a time when people first began using metal tools.
From Romans to Moors
Later, the Romans took over the area. They called the town Urci. It became an important place for early Christians.
Around the 700s, a group called the Moors arrived. They were from the Banu Abdus tribe. This tribe gave Benahadux its modern name! During their time, farming became very successful. They used clever watering systems to grow lots of fruits, vegetables, and other crops.
Changes Over Time
In 1489, the Moors left the area after Christian settlers arrived. Their lands were then taken over. A person named Don Gutierre de Cárdenas gave his lands to a group of nuns called the Franciscans. These nuns owned a lot of land in Benahadux until the 1800s.
