Brou Benjamin Angoua was born on November 28, 1986. He is a professional football player from Ivory Coast. He usually plays as a centre-back, which is a defender who plays in the middle of the field. He can also play as a defensive midfielder.
Benjamin Angoua has played for the Ivory Coast national football team. He even played in big tournaments like the Olympic Games and the Africa Cup of Nations.
Club Career
Benjamin Angoua started his football journey in his hometown of Anyama. He began playing for a local club called Toumodi. After that, he joined Africa Sports National in Ivory Coast's top league.
After playing for two seasons in Ivory Coast, Angoua moved to Hungary. He joined Budapest Honvéd in 2006. He stayed there for four years and played in over 90 games.
In 2010, Angoua moved to France. He joined Valenciennes, a team in France's top football division. He played for Valenciennes for four and a half seasons.
On July 15, 2014, he signed with Guingamp. He played there for two and a half years. Later, in 2017, he went to the United States. He played for New England Revolution on a one-year loan. A loan means he played for them temporarily.
In December 2018, Angoua signed a contract with Levadiakos. This club is in Greece's top football league. He played for them for about a year and a half.
After his contract in Greece ended, Angoua returned to France. In July 2020, he joined Stade Briochin. This team had just been promoted to a higher league. He is still playing for Stade Briochin today.
International Career
Benjamin Angoua played for the Ivory Coast under-23 team. He represented his country at the 2008 Olympic Games. His team reached the quarterfinals but lost to Nigeria.
On November 18, 2009, Angoua played his first game for the senior national team. This was a friendly match against Germany, which ended in a 2–2 draw. He came into the game as a substitute.
He scored his first goal for the national team in another friendly match. It was against Rwanda, and he scored in the 90th minute. Ivory Coast won that game 2–0.
Angoua was chosen for the squad for the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2010 FIFA World Cup. However, he did not play in any games during these tournaments.
He did play in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations. He came on as a substitute in a 2–0 win against Angola.
